Arthropleura is an extinct creature but it was basically a giant millipede the size of a car. It scuttled around ancient Carboniferous forests eating rotting plant matter. It was mostly vegetarian. It was able to grow to such a gigantic size because of the lack of predators and because Earth had a great partial pressure of oxygen. It became extinct when the moist climate started to dry out, destroying rain forests.
